Christina Riley graduated from the University of the West of England with a Building Engineering Management degree. Since gaining her degree Christina has spent the last 22 years in the construction industry working on a variety of projects including the Olympic Village, the British Airways World Cargo Centre, All England Lawn Tennis Club in Wimbledon & the Lakeside Shopping Centre.
Since 2013 Christina has been working as a Senior Planner for Balfour Beatty, with her works including several school-based projects in Hounslow and Reading. In March 2014, Balfour Beatty launched its LGBT Network; this was the catalyst for Christina to progress her gender reassignment in the work place in an environment that felt inclusive and supportive. In December 2014, Christina took on the Chair role of the network and has since driven forward the success of the group with her Co Chair Rose Donaghey.
Christina has driven forward the LGBT Agenda by promoting diversity and inclusion through the LGBT Construct network and twitter feed. She is also on the steering committee of OffSite ; InterEngineering , National Student Pride and LGBT Construction Working Group. Christina was named in the Outstanding Future leaders list published in the Financial Times in 2015, and also was instrumental in Balfour Beatty winning the CECA Inspiring Change in the Workplace awards. Christina runs diversity toolbox talks and has spoken on a number of projects including Crossrail.
