Louisa Compton is the Executive Editor of the Victoria Derbyshire Programme on BBC2/BBC News and of Newsbeat on Radio 1/1Xtra/Online. She launched the Victoria Derbyshire programme in April 2015 – the first new programme commissioned by BBC News this century. It’s the home of original journalism regularly breaking news stories. BBC Newsbeat is BBC News’ home of journalism for young adults. Louisa has been a senior manager at the BBC for 7 years, having previously been Daytime Editor at BBC Radio 5 live overseeing Victoria Derbyshire, Shelagh Fogarty and Richard Bacon’s radio programme. On her appointment at Newsbeat, the BBC said “Louisa is one of the outstanding journalists of her generation in the BBC: a great story-getter and programme-maker, and a genuine innovator.”
